On this strong follow-up to Formula, Issac Delgado mixes things up. Versos en el Cielo is as heavenly as the title implies. The funk-tinged "Yo Te Quiero Maria" is characterized by the cross-genre interplay that listeners have come to love and appreciate from Delgado. Though some artists attempt to play matchmaker between styles, it normally ends up sacrificing the integrity of both.

Artist: Issac Delgado. Also performed by: Pedro Luis Ferrer.

Biography Inventive vocalist Issac Delgado was one of Cuba's most famous modern salsa musicians. His music, which combined elements of Afro-Caribbean rhythms with pop and jazz, evolved over the course of his career to include experiments with electronic elements and avant-garde sounds. The album did well and Delgado was invited to play at the New York Salsa Festival at Madison Square Garden. His second RMM release, Otra Idea (1997) was recorded in New York and featured Iván "Melón" González, arranger and songwriter Joaquín Betancourt, and Afro-Carribbean dance music artists Isidro Infante, Johnny Almendra, Papo Pepín, and Rubén Rodríguez. Formula followed later that December. His subsequent releases included Versos en el Cielo (2002), Prohibido (2005), En Primera Plana (2007), and L-O-V-E (2010).
