Hysteria is the fourth studio album by British synthpop band The Human League, released on 7 May 1984. Following the worldwide success of their 1981 album Dare, the band struggled to make a successful follow-up and the sessions for Hysteria were fraught with problems. The album name itself is taken from the problematic recording period. Producers Martin Rushent and Chris Thomas both left the project which would eventually be finished by producer Hugh Padgham.

album’s 30th anniversary. Def Leppard initially wrote songs with producer-songwriter Mutt Lange, who’d worked with them since 1981’s High & Dry. His packed schedule, though, meant that he couldn’t produce the album. Yeah, it can be alright and it can be an okay song but we want to make it great. And I think we achieved that. 6. The band saw Pour Some Sugar on Me as their early foray into rap-rock. He knew the CD thing was going to take off. We had 10 tracks and Mutt said we needed more.

Hysteria is the fourth studio album by English hard rock band Def Leppard, released on 3 August 1987 through Mercury Records and reissued on 1 January 2000. It is Def Leppard's best-selling album to date, selling over 25 million copies worldwide, including 12 million in the US, and spawning seven hit singles. The album charted at number one on both the Billboard 200 and the UK Albums Chart.

Hysteria is the eighth track and third single of Absolution and is preceded by a 40 second interlude on the album. The song is one of Muse’s most famous and popular due to the awesome bass line played by Chris Wolstenholme. What’s slightly less awesome is the subject matter: obsessive love (though it’s an admittedly epic delivery). This obsessive song is about a stalker who is losing his mind going after a girl

Pyromania's slick, layered Mutt Lange production turned into a painstaking obsession with dense sonic detail on Hysteria, with the result that some critics dismissed the record as a stiff, mechanized pop sellout (perhaps due in part to Rick Allen's new, partially electronic drum kit)

Def Leppard's Hysteria, the mega-selling, hard-rock album of the 80s, was no Sgt Pepper. Nor was it a Led Zeppelin IV. If anything, when their fourth and most popular album was released in 1987, it was more like AC/DC's Back In Black dressed up in stonewashed denim and wearing a blond curly wig. Put it this way, the British quintet certainly gave the world all of their loving. However, for Leppard's singer and frontman Joe Elliott, Hysteria was also somewhat of a creative feat. But Def Leppard are not deluded. They know the songs the fans want to hear and when they play Vector - the first time the band have been here for 16 years - you will get the hits. We'll be doing what all great bands of our status do which is play a combination of our new album and our classic tracks, some of which we will get castrated if we don't play," he laughs.

And Radiohead announced it only 10 days ahead of time. They later sold the album by licensing it to various labels, after the world poured out critical acclaim for the pay model (oh, and for the sound of it, too). Pre-sales for the pay-what-you-want period alone (Oct. 10–Dec. 10 in 2007) made more money for the band than all of the sales of Hail to the Thief, thanks to the deafening word-of-mouth.
